Can Tho to become most modern city in Mekong Delta

Can Tho city in the Mekong Delta is beginning a process to pour 80 trillion VND to develop its infrastructure aimed at making it the most modern city in the region.

As planned, Can Tho will build an urban-industry-service area along the Hau river, an urban and hi-tech area to the north of O Mon river and a heavy industrial area to the south of O Mon river.

To the southeastern of Hau river, there will be an urban area and Cai Rang port, while to the river’s southwest, an eco-tourism area will be developed.

The city will also build six residential areas covering a total of 5,800 ha, providing homes for 690,000 people.
Can Tho plans to develop an international water transport system based on Hau river and a local water road linking Cai San, Can Tho, O Mon and Thot Not rivers. While Tra Noc airport will be upgraded to be an international terminal.

Can Tho, became the central-run city in 2004, is planned to become the country’s industrial hub prior to 2020.
